    Default Black sashing

This is one of the fabrics that I love, but after I bought it I wondered what I had been thinking. After trying about five other ideas for the fabric, I came up with this. I asked about black sashing and many of you encouraged me...so here is the end result. I like it.

I have ordered black batting, and it won't be here until next week, so this is not the finished quilt. I think I may make the border smaller and I think I may use black binding.

But here is where it is at now...

Oooh, I like the black sashing! It really makes it dramatic.

You may have inspired me to work with a large print that I bought for the same reason. I loved it! Afterwards, I didn't have a clue what to do with it. I'm going to get it out and hang it in the sewing room and start thinking doing something like this with it.

I think it turned out great. Personally I like that border and it will give a great place to do some accent quilting.

I realized back around Y2K that I had a huge collection of "tiny vine-y" fabric and have spent the last 20 years trying to learn how to appreciate and use large scale fabrics and therefore acquire them other than just for backs. Something as beautiful as this fabric should be the star. True, this is quite simple, but when the fabric is the star that what you want!

The black is just what it needed to bring forward the panels. A black binding would be perfect for this finish on this quilt.
