    Here's some fabric I got recently that I thought would work for the border - it's Outback by Jinny Beyer. It doesn't have the full range of the spectrum, only purple, red and gold but I think it kind of goes. I don't know about anything else at this stage - I thought I'd keep it simple so as to not detract from the effect of the centre. I've got a couple of yards of this so enough to set it either way... but I'm veering back towards straight set again. :mrgreen:

    Too cool K, it's a bargello with HST's instead of strips!! And I like the square setting best, like someone else said, it makes the optical illusion more noticeable. What's the book again?

    ok, I like it straight, is it good for anything other than a wall hanging? I mean can you make a whole quilt of it? would it be multiple blocks like this and then put together or would it be like one big block?
