Default A block with a "twist"

I have started helping with charity blocks for a nurse who works in a Tyler, Texas hospital who has begun to build a stash of quilts in the hospital for families whose loved ones are dealing with death and are spending their last days in the hospital (no time to move them over to Hospice). The quilts are given to the patients & later taken home by the family as a memento & transitional object. She selects a color theme & a block every 2 months. Here's the March/April block. I thought it was very unusual & thought you might like to look at it.

I am glad you posted this as I saw the pattern made up in batiks at a LQS and had forgotten about it.

What a thoughtful thing to do. Love the block - it's been on my to-do list because it would look good in almost any color scheme.

I've never seen this block before. The March/April color theme she selected is grey, blue & black. There are the "pleats" in the block & one partial seam. It was easy to make.
