I love blues and yellows--whatever you make will be gorgeous!

I got the material washed and ironed last night and started cutting out the pieces. I have the first 4 rows cut out but since I didn't know what I was going to do with the fabric when I got the 1/2 yard of each, I find that I need to get more of two of the outermost fabrics. I also got 5 yards of the white for the background and talked to the eBay seller about a green for the vines, which she sent a picture of and it's just right.

I copied and re-sized, re-oriented, and copied and pasted some more to do this border from a shot of the yellow with vines fabric. A lot of time just to design the project let alone do it!

I was thinking this is a lot of work but really, the only piecing is the center so maybe doing the applique won't send me over the edge.

Wow. SO beautiful. If that is what EQ6 can do, I may need that for my birthday.

I have EQ4 and I used it to draw the dahlia. I used plain old Windows Paint to do the rest of it.

I have the picture of what I want to copy on my screen, the yellow fabric with vines. If it is a bmp or jpeg file that I am using Microsoft Picture Viewer or Photo Galery to view it I zoom in however I want to. I then press the PRTSC key on my keyboard, open Paint, and do a Paste. This works on anything on your screen like a pattern you see online.

I use Paint tools to cut out the part I want, open a new file, and paste it. I use the Eraser tool to clean it up if I need to, often using Zoom to get fine detail. If I want it bigger or smaller I use the Select tool to outline it, go to Image... Resize/Skew. To make is smaller I enter 50%, or whatever percentage, on both axis.

Then I just place the pieces where I want them. I usually have the working part of Paint a lot large than my finished part so I can copy and paste and resize then Select and move it to where I want it.
