My seam ripper and I are old friends. It's a spectacular quilt and I can't wait to see it when it's finished.

Fran: Your quilt is gorgeous. Have someone help you with it. Just remember you measure across the middle horizontally for the top & bottom borders. You measure down the middle vertically for the sides. Cut your borders much larger than the measurements. Then pin just the measurements on the quilt and leave plenty on the ends, then take care of the miter. Once you get it you won't want to do your borders any other way. I love the colors.

Had a quilt do that. I had it all sandwiched & wwas quilting it & it was like a ruffle. I had already quilted the base so I unsewed the border & resewed it & I bet I took more than8 inches off. It's like it stretched or something. What a pain. Mine looked just like that.

I like waves. Especially when it is hot.

Check out this bad boy picture below. You wanna talk about waves. :) I didn't redo, just hoped it would "quilt out". Second picture is an after picture.

Best wishes for whatever you decide!
Rachel your quilt is really beautiful!

Love your sampler. Borders can be real pains sometimes. I like the way you put the diamonds in that one border.

I'm glad you decided to rip it out and do it over. after doing a beautiful quilt, it's a shame to let it be ruined. a few weeks back, I asked for help to fix a wavey border due to cutting some things on the bias. the board gave me lots of things to try, but I just took apart the pieces that were wrong and then put on borders and now it's fine. If it can be fixed use that seam ripper. I learned some valuable lessons in the process.

This is normally how I do my borders as where to measure but these had mitered corners and I had hoped for a short cut--ha!
