    I agree with this.

Just an opinion, but I would not use this as the final border. The color is nice, but maybe a little strong for the softness of this quilt, and it also seems like with just this border it is a frame with something else intended. Just not wide enough for the final one with the size of this quilt

the dark border spoils the niceness of the inside materials...

I think the scrappy boarder adds to the beauty of the quilt. I like the first photos.

I agree. It needs to be wider.

There are also a couple of more additional fabrics at the LQS that I could use to make a 2nd solid border. DH likes it just as it is - finish off and bind it without a 2nd row. What do you all think?

Nancy, I love the colors and the pattern of your quilt. The paino key border is too busy and detracts from your quilt. I would add a 4-5" border to the dark purple in the darkest color of any of the block colors. Then I'd add a 6-8" border of the lighter shade of which ever color you chose from the blocks. This way you would blend shades of the existing block colors and would be pleasing to the eye. The blocks are the focal point of your quilt and the border is like double matting a picture frame. I can't wait to see it all quilted.

Could I ask a question? How many different fabrics did you use for the quilt? I'm asking because I love batiks and your use of them is just awesome. Love it.

I like the thinnish purple border and the piano keys with purple binding. Those colors are scrumtious. Beautiful!

Go for it! I don't go in for the wild things, and the inner border is just perfect in color contrast to keep the outer border from being wild, The purple binding is what will tie it all together.
