    It is a quilting guide. Many different brands of machines have them. You can use them with your regular presser foot to keep decorative rows of stitching at the same distance apart.

    It is an arm that attaches to the back of your foot.
    You set it say 1" away from your needle.
    It is used in quilting.
    sew your first row. Put the edge of the guide on the stitches and start sewing. That row of stitching will be 1" away from the first row you stitched.
