    I have this pattern and just looked at the price. I paid $12.95 for mine!

    I made this for my DH and lined it with an old soft towel. I went over all the seams to secure them and keep them from fraying too much. He wears it to mow the lawn and the towel part keeps the sweat from getting in his eyes and the wide brim protects his ears and neck from the sun. I throw it in the washer when he's done. He really likes it and it's holding up really well with all the washings. Told him when it wears out, I'll just make him another.

    This is a really easy pattern and you can easily make a hat to match a purse/tote using the same fabrics.

    Works well using old clothes that still have good fabric in them. Think using your old favorite jeans to make a hat and matching tote. I'm thinking of doing that and leaving some frayed edges like you do in a rag quilt. Line it with bandana material.
