I know you'll have fun with the scrappy hat. I just sewed the scraps to a piece of muslin (but no reason why you couldn't use any fabric). Everyone seems to like the scrappy ones the best. Like you, I've got years of scraps and truth be told, I'll probably never use them all

Hi QultingaddictUK. I know your sister will love the Bucket Hat. I volunteer in the oncology unit of my local hospital and make many hats for the patients. In the winter, I knit & crochet hats but the bucket hats are extremely popular during the hot weather. The hats are quick and easy and can be made from any washable fabric. I've added buttons, sequins, etc. to some of the hats and as they are reversible, you can go crazy with them.

My heart goes out to your sister and I hope you make her many, many hats.

Help, I think I am having a senior moment, I really cannot understand this part of the pattern

1.With RIGHT sides together, pin the center back seam of the crown, matching notches. Stitch in a 1/2" seam and press open. Machine stitch 1/2" from single-notched edge of crown. Clip to machine stitching.
I have been at it for about 2 hours and really cannot figure it out, tell me it's me being stupid!
