Default Bulldog

Jane Haworth was the guest speaker at my guild this month. I was excited to take her workshop the next day, because I had previously purchased her bulldog pattern. My son and his wife have a bulldog, so this will be a gift for them.

I've done some raw edge applique using fusible, but Jane's method used small dabs of glue instead. I found it was easier to change my mind on what fabric went in a particular spot when using the glue, I could choose fabrics as I went along without having to previously iron them to fusible, and also the piece isn't as stiff as when using fusible. A light box came in very handy!

Trufa is their English bulldog. Drake, my standard poodle, is waiting for his turn to be in a quilt.

Wow! That's amazing! You've really captured Trufa. I can hardly wait to see Drake on a quilt.

Sounds like you learned a lot in your workshop. Have fun making a Bulldog. Your Drake is so worthy of a quilt.

Great job on the appliqué! Fun choice of colours! What type of glue was recommended?

The instructor recommended Alene's Tacky Glue. I already had some, so that is what I used. To apply it I just dipped a pointy thing (sort of like a chopstick) into the bottle, and dabbed it on the fabric. I really didn't use much glue.
