Burst Block Quilt with Center Panel
I am making a throw-size quilt for a friend who is struggling with cancer. It started in his shoulder and he did lose his arm. Now has cancer in other spots. He and his family have 4 collies so I am using a collie portrait in the center surrounded by Burst Blocks (see youtube video w/Jennie and Man Sewing. The newest video with the ruler.) This first block I made was not good. Started again and was much more cognizant of where my template ruler was (at the bottom) and then the blocks went fast and smoothly. All were exactly 10" square when I finished sewing them. Since these are on the bias squares, I did spray starch them when finished. Here is the center of the quilt. I have 8 more blocks to make for an additional row on the top and bottom of this quilt. Will need 8 or 9" of borders to get the size I want and plan to back it with fleece. I found a file with descriptions of the collies and I have FMQ some of them onto the center panel.
