Default Busy weekend, but some finishes!

I've worked on several things this weekend, but here are a couple of finished projects. The small quilt was a test of the Turning Twenty pattern for a larger quilt I made. This is my very first experience machine-quilting, so don't look too closely! The potholders/hot pads were made for my husband to his specs. He wanted them large (I cut 11" circles), flexible, and with a pocket thingie to slip his hand into. They were easy (I used a dinner plate as a pattern.) and fast. I may be making more of these as gifts.

I've also been working on a donation quilt as a test of a star pattern I'm using for a flannel quilt, but I don't have pictures of those yet.

Very nice. I like your hotpads. I need to make some of those myself. They always say the cobbler's children have no shoes, well, I have 1 hot pad that I can use, and another with a big hole. lol

Very nice projects. I like the hot pads, kind of expensive in the stores.

    Pretty hot pads.

What did you use as batting please?

Nice quilting on the turning twenty quilt .... and pretty colors too. Never thought of using a plate that large for the pot holders ... and those pockets for hands are a great size for any hand, left or right, large or small. Thanks for the motivation, those would be good stocking stuffers! Great accomplishments!

I layered the outside (decorative) fabric, then a circle of flannel, then a circle of Insulbrite, then another of flannel, and finally the other piece of outside (decorative) fabric. Then after quilting the pad, I placed a circle of the decorative fabric, folded in half, on one side and bound the whole thing.

The paper plate is a great idea for the pot holders. You were very busy this weekend. I saw some pot holders at the peanut fest that were bought with foot ball fabric sewn on one side. I didn't look at the price, or ask if she sold any.
