    The swirls in the background spell girlishness. I would only use the butterflies if you cound cut the squares to break up the swirl lines and you would have partcial butterflies showing. That would waste some fabric. You decide.

    Nix the butterflies. I like the fabric, but not for a boy that age.

    star floral-too girly
    swirl dots-cute fabric for boys quilt if used in a small dose
    dinosaur fabric and others look great together

    skip the butterfly fabric and the swirly and try and find another fabric like the swirly with out the purple on it. Boys and dads get really finicky about that stuff. my hubby would have my head if i ever put in purple or butterfly's on my sons quilt.

    Ok, the votes are overwhelmingly not in favor of the butterflies in this quilt. As someone said, I can use them in another quilt (like the denim rag quilt I have planned for some time in the future...) I appreciate your honest opinions--that's why I asked. I love this board!

    Maybe applique a few small butterflies here and there, but only a few small ones. Just a thought

    I think some butterflys are ok for boys,but not these for the fabrics ;you have chosen to use this time. My opinion Jo
