A while ago, we were discussing basting guns and i said i had one, loved it but hadn't got the grate - just put my hand under the quilt and shot between my fingers! Good ol' BW saw this and, being concerned for my safety ( ), told me she was sending me her basting grate! Weeks went by and it never arrived - we'd given it up as lost forever!

BUT apparently, the label had fallen off with BOTH our addresses on - luckily they sent it back to her local PO where they recognised the parcel and took it back to her! So she sent it again and it FINALLY made it to France!

I tell you, there was no WAY that label would have fallen off a second time - it took me AGES to get all the tape off the parcel! AND to make sure the grate survived the trip intact, she wrapped it up in lots of lovely 30s fabric!

Thank you so much, my friend - you're the best!

    :D :D :D

There's a good yard each of the blue, pink and green and it's the same print - I was thinking of a pattern using these three and white - any ideas?!

Yeah BW IS a sweetie under that tough NY exterior - you don't fool me BW! :D

That was so nice of her! She's a sweet lady. The fabrics are lovely.

When and how do you use a basting gun? Is it used to tack quilts?

Yes Ducky - it tacks the sandwich together for quilting; I use a microtach which has really fine tacks, some of them are thick and make holes. I know some ppl love em and some hate em - I love em and use for hand and machine quilting, no probs! :D

I just put the purple thirties print together with a muted purple floral I had in my stash - thought I'd make a snail trail, it's a pattern I always wanted to try. With the dark purple tonal as an inner border and more of the floral as an outer border; what do you think? :D here's a link http://quilting.about.com/od/quiltpa...lt-Pattern.htm
