    The first pass of D9P used 5 inch squares. Yellow in the center, batiks in the corners, and black on the sides. After you make the 9 patch and cut it into quarters, you get 4 pieces that are 7 inches. So, the 2nd pass used 7 inch squares: red in the center, the pieces from the first pass in the corners, and black on the sides.
