I know that a cat defacing a doll is sad, but it made me think of a story. When I was a youngster, I had pneumonia several times. Poor little Sara might die this time. Man, did I ever use that for my advantage! Lots of ice cream, no chores, etc. One time on my way to the hospital with another bout of pneumonia I insisted that I take my sister's doll. It had a face of some substance that looked like pressed cardboard. It was a doll from the 40's. In the oxygen tent the paint on "Maries" face peeled, and she came home looking pretty haggared. My sister finally repainted the face back on 10 years later, but she has never let me forget that I almost killed Marie.
