I like both fabrics. Others have told you what they are if I were you I would include them in your cowboy quilt.

If they don't live in ranch & rodeo areas and are not familiar with the old t.v./movie cowboy look, they would perhaps not get the significance of this print. Speaking for myself, I like it a lot, but I also like all the other western stuff.
Personally I would use them. My hubby who is 24, wears them nearly every time he rides. I wouldn't worry too much about today's youth. If they didn't grow up in that type of area to know what chap's are, regardless if they have or have not seen Roy Roger's, they probably wont want a cowboy quilt in the first place. So I say keep the fabric. If someone wants a cowboy quilt more than likely they will know what chaps are! I like the light one best. The dark one feels to busy.

If you were putting together a cowboy quilt, how important would this print be (considering other cowboy motifs like lassos, boots, hats, horses...)

Which is better? The darker one or the lighter one?
    Chaps.

I like the light one better, but you could use the darker one for small border and binding.

I agree with LovinMySoldier. If they don't know what chaps are, they probably won't want a cowboy quilt!

    Cute fabric!

I also want to see what else you have to go with it.

Theses are the kind of chaps and gloves I picture Tom Sellack in while riding his horse 'Sparky'(I think that's his name) .

    Oh sorry, TMI!

Yep, chaps just like the cowboys we saw in Colorado widerness one year were wearing.

I like the darker one best, but you can tell better what is what on the lighter one. I'd use both in a quilt. My son used to bull ride and would love a quilt from both fabrics. He's 38 and married with a queen size bed just in case you make it for him lol I really like the fabric.I guess it's from having cattle too.
