I like your maple leaf quilt. One of our sons live in Canada. We were in the Calgary area a couple of years back when that flood hit Calgary-boy that was mess as I am sure you know firsthand. Please don't for get to show us the finished quilt.

Love your Canadiana Quilt. Red and White is always a winning combination. You could work in some Tartan-style plaids, to honor the ancestry of the Scots / Irish who migrated onto your lands. I'm looking forward to seeing the completed item.
