I learned a lot from this block.

    1) This was probably not the best block to do as your first paper pieced project

    2) Paper shrinks

    3) You need to take tiny stitches or the paper is !@#$%$ to get off.

    4) I don't have time to make a whole quilt like this. This block took me 4 hours to do. I am sure as I get more practice it would take less time.

    5) I found out what volcanoing is.

Candlequilter's tutorial was very easy to follow. I hope she can use my block.

Did you take the paper off the whole block or just at the center as in the tutorial. I think I finally have one that looks good enough! I have never pp before and I have read somewhere that the paper is supose to stay on the block until they are in the quilt. So what do I do, leave it on or take it off?

Good question. I normally leave the paper on until I attach the blocks to each other. But, I had to take it off this time before I attached each quarter. I had trouble with bulky seams, not having the paper helped keep the bulk down.

Thank you for your quick reply. I was wondering, as the middle has a very slight volcano (not bad compared to the other two I made LOL maybe an "A" cup vs my "DD") and I was thinking if I could take the paper off and startch it it would lie flat.

That is a beautiful block! Something I have not tried myself, so when I do, hope it turns out half as nice!

I just started yesterday (only 1/8 done). I had trouble with the pivoting being perfect. Your block is great! I love how the striped fabric just radiates from the block. Good choice.

Volcanoing is when the block puffs up in the middle like a little mountain. But mine looked like Mt. Hood. Would have said Mt. St. Helens but it doesn't have it's top anymore. When I removed the paper I was able to get it pretty flat.

I just pressed mine and wonder of wonders it's laying flat! Doing the Happy Dance. I just starched the daylights out of it, so when it's dry I will try post a picture!
