The pattern isn't mine. It was done by Candlequilter, and I asked her the same thing when I saw hers. She did it as a paper-pieced block, which I love, and she offered it to us if we'd make her one from patriotic fabrics so she could use it for a donation quilt. I'm sure if you ask her, she'll be glad to send you a copy of the pattern, if you'd make one for her.
