I guess it really depends on how much money you want to spend... To my understanding, most longarmers will charge more when they are doing intricate work instead of edge to edge designs.

You could also do meandering in parts on your short arm - as well as some areas of more intricate work this way you have the best of both worlds.

I second this-perfect place for feathers.

The quilt is beautiful. I think a long arm quilter could really make the white areas pop with feathers. Whatever you decide to do please post pictures of the finished quilt.

Beautiful! I agree with the others, the white area is just 'asking' for some 'extra special' quilting.

I do agree that the white area is just asking for some special treatment. I actually purchaed a unfinished quilt top at a flea market to use to try and learn to do more detailed designs and then maybe do the quiltiing myself. However, I cannot stand not seeing that I at least tried....so..I did some feathers and other things...and just ripped it all out and did a meander on the quilt...it was a vintage top and it looks ok...but I have learned I am close to being a perfectionist..holy cow...I really am not !

Funny, I love Red, but what this quilt says to me is, "Boy, you really need to practice, practice, practice!" I could never - well if I had a whole year, maybe then - make anything so beautiful! It is a good reason to like red!

I know exactly what I would do since I don't do fmq with my regular machines and I don't have a long arm. It would go to my LAQ! But whatever you decide to do to it I know it is going to be really nice. It is already a pretty quilt top!!

Beautiful and those white spaces could use some wonderful patterns
