Usefulness is key. Everything has many uses and can be re-purposed.

I love it when someone re-uses what others would throw out. My DH's favorite thing to do was to stop at someone's trash pile and take home a piece of furniture or a machine and fix it or make it into something useful. I think it is great.

Oh, that's a great idea!! I'm making a t-shirt quilt for my son, but was wondering what to do with his Boy Scout shirt. Thanks! :-)

You go, girl! I love your ideas. We, too, are a green family and we go to a green church. Everyone needs to wake up and stop throwing away such good stuff. In my DD's hometown, there is a building where you can take good stuff you don't need and donate; you can choose something to take home with you if you wish. That way, very little goes into the land fill.

The bag is fabulous. It has a personality. Love that it is recycled. I try hard to also but never thought of composting my scraps.

My husband puts shirts and pants he can no longer wear or have seen better days into a laundry basket I keep in my sewing room. he takes photos of uniforms from the office that are no longer presentable to wear and asks if we can have them to make quilts for donations. I have a large laundry basket full of clothes to be reused. I have grocery bags I have reinforced.
