What a wonderful present! She will love those pockets on the front of the bag. I have a purse that has those and they make it so easy to get to a little something in a hurry. Lipstick, keys, receipt.

Great bag, I love making bags and seeing how others make theirs.

When my girls went off to college, I made them several tote bags. The idea was to keep things needed for a class in a tote and be able to grab it quickly! I also made a padded sleeve for their laptops so they could slide it into the bag quickly. (Notice the emphasis on quickly because I knew they would always be running late!). I also made the boys khaki colored messenger bags and they both still use them.

Wanted to add that with kids' tote bags, I make a removable bottom insert (a stiff fabric covered piece). This can be removed to throw the bag in the washer.
