Actually this is not anywhere as difficult as it looks. You only 2 blocks - one is a 9 patch and the other is almost like a pieced triangle. Karen's patterns and directions are absolutely clear. The only thing I had trouble with was matching the diagonal intersections but I did find that hand piecing made me a LOT more accurate (probably because I wasn't just running material through my machine - I took the time to match the intersections). The book is worth buying and my opinion is that anyone who can sew a straight stitch can do this. I also did FMQ becasue of another quilter on this forum who did some lovely work and inspired me to try - but Karen's quilting patterns don't call for it - the patterns are also very easy and straightforward.
Thanks for letting me know they are easier than they look.
I can't believe all that with 2 blocks. I think I'll get into Ebay and look for her book. I can't wait to try this. Yours is really an inspiration. I love your colors too. Thanks again.

I just went into Ebay and found the book and its $22.77 and $3.50 for shipping. I'll see if I can find it cheaper somewhere else.

    Hi all,

Love all the chat about my Celtic Pieced Illusions technique! The quilt is fantastic!

Yes, believe it or not, all the Celtic designs in my book are done with two blocks. I have a video about the technique on my website: http://www.karencombs.com , scroll down until you see the link to the video clip.

The video clip will give you a preview of the technique and will give a pinning tip that I use when I put the blocks together. In fact, I use this tip when I piece many different kinds of blocks.

    Enjoy!
    Karen

I like this one. Was the pattern difficult, and where did you find the pattern?

The pattern is in my book, "Celtic Pieced Illusions". You can see more on my website, www.karencombs.com .

The pattern is not hard, it only uses two quilt blocks, believe it or not. . .

HI Karen glad your here. I just went through your site but didn't see a video. Oh well I signed up for newsletters. You are very talented. To bad I didn't see Spokane on your schedule.
I'll be at that quilt show tomorrow. If I get a book from your website do you autograph them?
