    I just sort of made up the pattern as I went. I had a diamond template so I cut my black diamonds and started with that, then added 1"strips to the top 2 sides.

    I found some Shiva paintsticks at a yard sale which I used for the leaves. I cut a stencil out of a sticky vinyl (like a signwriter would use) and sponged on the paint. I like the effect. I have heard the paint is permanent when dry, but I haven't had time to test it yet.

    I always enjoy something unexpected in a piece, whether a painting or a quilt. Your dangling leaf provides just the right (IMHO) touch of surprise to make your creation just wonderful! Winning ribbon well-deserved!
