Is it a raffled? Or an auction? If it's legal in your state, I would ask those in charge to sell raffle tickets for the quilt instead of doing an auction -- tends to bring in a *lot* more money. I personally refuse to donate a quilt to a cause unless it will be raffled off (and they allow enough time before the event to sell as many tickets as possible). $1 per ticket is good, with 6 tickets for $5.

There is another recent thread here about charity quilts and how so many of them "go" for less than the cost of the materials in them at auctions, especially silent auctions. Raffles are so much better.....
Vote for a title would be "Pink Lemonade"

I really agree with the raffle- many people will "throw in" money to a donation for a medical expense, knowing that they won't win the quilt, but that's not why they are contributing. An auction only gets bidders who want the item and are serious enough to bid on it. I, too, have seen auctions where items go for much less than they are actually worth, especially in difficult times for many people financially. A raffle gives many people the opportunity to contribute a little, or as they are able, and it all adds up.

I have two comments. 1. What a beautiful quilt. 2. Your son should quilt more often.

Try looking at the Sacred Threads web site. They specialize in quilts that are themed (Hope, love, grief, etc.). They just had their every other year show outside of DC and it was very moving.

I think the quilt is beautiful and although the sick girl won't get to enjoy it, I'm sure the wall quilt will be equally loved. I think it's great that your husband and son encouraged you to make the quilt.
