It is beautiful. My sister in law gave me about 4 yards of the ferguson tartan and I am afraid to even cut it! I am not sure what do do with it as it is so beautiful on its own. Your quilt is an inspiration. Maybe in a few years I will be brave enough to cut

Don't be scared! I think if I was using this lightweight wool again I would use some stabilizer with it. The heavy weight/kilt weight wool is quite different. The lady who made my daughters school kilt gave me two large sacks of tartan off-cuts. I used some to make table runners and found the heavier wool a joy to work with. And besides if I can cut tartan anyone can. The difficult bit is matching up the sett.
