Though it makes me sad that few people can appreciate and value a quilt like that from a grandmother, I think the quilt is in the right hands now! It will be a treasure to you even though it wasn't your grandmother who made it.

Glad the quilt can get with someone who will treasure it. Being the sentimental fool that I am, I can't imagine how anyone could get rid of a beautiful quilt made by her grandmother!

i love it, but never heard of a summer quilt, makes me wonder how people can get rid of old quilts.

That quilt was screaming to be loved and appreciated and it found you! You are now officially a quilt rescuer.

She also added that there was no stuffing in it because it was made as a summer quilt. Of course, I was already buying it...but the story to go with it made it even more fun to get. There is not even 1 hole in it and was kept nicely because it isn't very yellowed either. I think it was saved more than used. Anyways, I am very happy to be the new owner of this lovely piece.
What a sonderful quilt. Nice to hear the history. Now you can use it and pass it on.

What a beautiful quilt. I would hate to have all my hard work go for $4.00!

I like wvdek's referring to the quilt as sherbet ice cream.

Great find. Makes you wonder how the family could part with it.
