Chevron quilt
I attended a quilt retreat recently, and as one of the small teaching units, we took 2-10 inch squares, of contrasting colors, and put them right sides together. And the squares can be of any size. Then, we sewed around all 4 sides. Next we made an X cut from corner to corner, and when pressed open, we had 4 HST. I have seen this talked about on this board, but just never put it to use. So, I went looking in my stash for pieces I could use and this is what I came up with. I ended up wanting to make it longer than usual, because the guy in the couple that I am giving this to, is about 6ft 5. So, it measures about 60X75.

For the backing, I used 3 different pieces of fleece, and am really happy with the results. And considering that the high today, December 7, 2013, in North Dakota, was-15. Yes, 15 below zero. Not nice, but sure makes a fleece backed quilt fun to snuggle under. I am giving it to a co-worker and will give it to her tomorrow.

Thanks for looking, and stay warm, everyone
