I've never heard of chicken scratch. Your quilt is beautiful, red is my favorite color! Could you explain what chicken scratch is so I know what I'm looking at? All I see is a beautiful quilt!

Thank you so much for all your kind words. I do a lot of this kind of work. I don't know much about the computer but will try to tell you how to get a pattern. Google Chicken Scratch..a list will come up ..click on Free Chicken Scratch patterns..scroll down to where its says..Chicken Scratch Star Pattern..it will show you how to do it. Other names are Amish Embroidery, Snowflake Embroidery, and Depression Lace. It is a web site that sells books with patterns but I will have to fine it, will post it if I do. I hope this will help.

Hi Willie Mae: I did Chicken Scratch when I was a teenager back
in the late 50's. Seems I did some in home ec too. I have always thought it looked so pretty and lacy. I collect vintage aprons, and some have it on them. Nice to see it again. Great work! PS Is Willie Mae a nickname or short for Wilma? My late mother was named Wilma Joan. Was called Willie by her family.

So, Chicken Scratch is the stitch used to put the blocks together? That's the way I understand it. In any case, your quilt is beautiful. Did you do it by hand or on a machine?

My name is Willie Mae, most of my friends call me Willie. I don't know where my mother got that name. A friend thought me how to do Chicken Scratch a few years back and now I got quilts in almost every color, some is not together yet. It is something you can do while you watch TV, and it is really pretty, looks like lace.
