This was such a fun quilt to make. My daughter got married last year and I was finishing a big nice quilt for her brother who had just gotten married, so I knew her nice quilt would have to wait. She always was sentimental about a couple of Christmas traditions we had while she was growing up, so since this was their first Christmas together I thought a Christmas quilt, throw size, would be a great, and easy quilt to make quickly. The pattern was super easy, as you can tell, it was the great fabrics I was able to find, that made it so great. Every Christmas Eve, we would light all the candles in the livingroom, make hot chocolate, and read "Twas the Night Before Christmas". While looking at fabrc online I found this great black and grey fabric with Santa flying over village houses, then I found a fabric with large cups of cocoa, the light green fabric is the words of "Twas the night before Christmas", and another with candles....then I found a christmas toile on ebay that was really cheap... it didn't really fit my theme though...until I remembered how my daughter would get up christmas morning and she couldn't wait to see her stocking, didn't care so much about the presents, when I also found the large border print of stockings, I knew I needed to do a 2 sided quilt. The pictures are taken with the quilt sideways, so I could get my kids in it, hope you can get the idea.

    Christmas eve, front

Lovely quilt. It seems like the fabric was at the right place at the right time for you to find it.

Really nice idea. It's remarkable how they remember all of the Christmas traditions from their childhood. They will continue those Christmas activities and preparations in their own homes. My daughter loves the countdown calendar and does one with her two sons. Makes me smile to see their little trees fill with ornaments as the holidays approach.

What a wonderful quilt and story. Don't you love it when everything just comes together like that.
