    Default Christmas Tree Skirt Finish

Good thing I began this in May!
My friend chose the fabrics for her tree skirt and it didn't occur to me to tell her they all needed to be cotton, so she picked some stretchy, metallic stuff for the spokes. I had to interface all that as well as I could to stabilize it and then she wanted the binding to be metallic....Found some silver metallic bias tape. Was that a joy to put on. Not. Then, some crystals and it's done. Whew.

I was happy with how the FMQ paisleys turned out.

When my son saw it he said, "Our Christmas tree is done in purple...Are you making one for us?"

Wow Watson, you certainly stepped up to the challenge working with those fabrics! But the end result is quite breathtaking with that big silver star. I can't imagine working with that stuff to make the binding. Lame's are a royal pain to work with no matter what but to make a binding out of it, ugh.

If you do decide to make one for yourself, look into using Silk Radiance (a cotton silk blend) or silk dupioni. You get the shimmer from the silk without all the headaches of synthetic metallic fabrics.
