    Barnbum,

I love civil war fabrics and patterns. One tip I would offer, if I may is to include several blocks made with a pink/shirting and several with a black/shirting. Including those two colors just makes it pop. I'll attach a photo of a mini quilt I'm doing for you to see. I hope it illustrates what I'm trying to say.

LOL Karla! I think you picked some great fabrics - your CW quilt will be another in your line of awesome quilts!
A Ruby Beholder is a piece of
RED plexiglass that you look thru' at your fabrics. It helps, um, sort of 'gray' out the colors, so you can see the differences in value - especially with some of the mediums & darks.

Very interesting on the Ruby beholder. As for the quilt oh my just gorgeous can't wait till we get to see it. The fabrics are to die for okay I can go on and on.

So here I'll sit till I see your completed quilt and I can dream about making a great quilt someday.

In that picture, 17". I just finished quilting it and its now 16 1/2". I wish the colors showed up better but its due to the lighting in my studio.

    Thanks for the compliment, Helen

Oh jeepers, Helen, I didn't get any pinks or blacks. I wanted to make it manly, hence no pinks, and the darks are so dark in browns I didn't think to get black. But, I see what you mean about the pop. Your piece is cute!! Maybe husband doesn't want to pop. Maybe it'll keep him from sleeping soundly under it?

Did you see my link to the new fabric place I found for CW choices in the Main section? It's this one: http://www.quiltbook.com/CivWarRepo.htm

    Karla,

The link you provided is great. The owners of Little Quilts are the ones who shared that tip about pink and black and I use it all the time in scrap quilts. I really like all your fabrics and if you ever get tired of having them around, you can send them my way, lol.
