Are the 1 inch strips and 2 inch squares the cut size of the finished size?

Your work is lovely to look at. I bet in days of yore, some very careful quilters used every last little scrap of fabric on hand to make beauties like yours. I can imagine a little bag of scraps and cutting and stitching this pattern by hand. Small work with small scraps for small amounts of time at hand. Lovely start, PPquilter.

Using 1 inch strips to make the 9 patch, makes the 9 patch 2 inches unfinished, so this is why the shirting squares between are cut 2 inches unfinished. LOL its addicting!

Looking good! I, too, have tubs full of these little pieces sewn together waiting for me to put together the "Ohmygosh" quilt. One of these days...good for you.

Crazy, yes, but what a result.

Perhaps I will start to save 1" strings from my scraps now, (1.5" has been my smallest to date). In fact it could be something I could be doing while my granddaughter (9) is making stitch and flip string blocks as she learns to sew.

Ditto to what has been said. This will be amazing. Can't wait to see the finished project. BrendaK
