    I don't know the answer... I don't use patterns and made the star blocks about ten years ago or more... way before the rest of the quilt was added to them. Just did my 'own thing'... Hope someone can answer for you. My gut feeling is that a friendship star ought to be able to point either way, but I don't know if I'm right (or care!)
