It is a quarter circle echoed on itself and overlaid kind of like the clamshell design.

Here is a link to give you an idea of what it looks like. Looks much nicer actually quilted on a quilt but at least this gives you an idea

I like the BF idea, but I believe the 1/4 inch is more CW traditional. Either way, I suggest stitching it in dark brown or black. Perhaps you would do an oversized stitch to make it look very rustic. Any way you do it, it looks great all ready.
