Default Civil War sampler finished at last!

I joined the board recently, so this is the first time I have posted a photo. I started this quilt in January, using Barbara Brackman's Civil War Sampler book and blog. There are fifty different 8" blocks and the quilt got so big I nicknamed it "the beast". I had it professionally quilted and have just finished putting the binding on. Feels so good to have finished it! Thanks to everyone for the friendly welcome, hope my photos work OK!

Love, love, love your quilt. I am a student of the Civil War and the hidden messages in some of the blocks. Stories have it that some of the blocks gave directions to slaves who wanted to run away. Not a lot of proof but interesting stories. Your quilt would have been very valuable to them back then. Scraps were all they had, thus the variety of the patterns. Great job.
