    Default Collin's Batik Quilt

Started one quilt for Collin (DGS 19 years old) and decided it was too boring. Bought a package of Benartex 10" layer cakes in Dark Batiks. My original pattern was to cut each into 4 charm squares but they weren't 10", more like 9.50. So I just decided they were too darn pretty to cut up and since I could buy some extra fabric for the cornerstones, I made this pattern up. It is a queen size quilt and the pictures do not begin to show how beautiful the fabric really is. The pictures look pastel in some areas and it is not pastel at all. It is completely machine sewed as I even sewed the binding on (for the first time). The backing was some cherry/orange fabric I had here in my stash and Marie, my trusty 85 year old long armer, quilted it with black thread, makes the back quite interesting. As they say on TV "This has exceeded my expectations" !!!

WOW! That is beautiful. I love batiks & framing them in black really makes them pop. You done a wonderful job on it. I know they will love it.

That is beautiful and I'm not usually a batik fan. :-)
