    Default Colorful flower

I have about 150 petals from Joseph's Coat.

    http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...t-t226991.html

I just started to play with the petals and thought they would make a lovely flower if, what I was thinking would work.

I measured one petal and that would be the diameter of a circle. I then made a circle and started to lay the petals on it. I needed about 13 petals to complete the circle.

I started to sew the petals together from the bottom up with as straight a line as possible. Then I took the template of the background of Joseph's Coat and used that to make the background of the flower. I will then set this circle into a square background, I think.

I have enough to make at least 10 flowers. I think this is an orginal? lol

Excellent color usage and design here. You may want to check out the Block of the Month section "Strike your English" that will begin on Sept 3rd, using not so square from free patterns from Quilt on the Square site on internet. Looks very interesting.

    Gorgeous and original!

That black really sets it off. Will you be doing anything to the center or leave it as is? I wonder about a unique button to go in the middle?

No matter what you decide - if all the blocks/flowers are as pretty as this one it should be entered in a contest/quilt show!

I haven't decided yet. When I finish all the blocks, I will have an idea then lol.....The background fabric looks black but it's really a very dark red violet with darker purples, it's a batik.
