I'm glad to read later in this thread that the fire is contained. These fires are so sad to watch.

I happily found out my LQS is doing a sew-in for people who want to make and contribute quilts to the victims and first responders of the wild fires. The owner i working with the Layers of Hope group to collect and deliver the quilts. I really wanted to do something but didn't know how to get the quilts to the people who need them. I have no ideas, of course, to whom my quilts will go (male or female, victim or first responder), but I'm going with masculine fabrics in browns. I'm thinking they will receive more feminine quilts, but I don't really know. Since they need to be received fairly quickly, I've put everything else on hold until I at least one done.

This does reinforce my feeling that I need to work on some charity quilts to keep at the ready. I've been more focused on getting "home" and "family" quilts done, but need to add some others. That's where the leaders and enders can come in!

We have been watching the news with reports of all the fires going on in the West this summer.... awful!! Some of the fire fighters from Michigan are out West right now trying to help out. More will be headed that way soon. Mother nature can sure take a nasty streak at times..... lightening can start some nasty business. Stay safe.

Sadly here bush fires are a very common occurrence so I understand a little, it is a really happy quilt and should cheer up some lucky receiver.
    Nice work
