These are beautiful. I'm interested to know if there is a specific brand of crayons you use.

These are beautiful! I've used the Pentel fabric crayons and they work well too and in the same way you describe. I've coloured in after quilting, you can do both ways. It's a good technique on a landscape quilt as well, if you don't have a fabric the exact colour you want or to apply shading or blur edges between pieces. Your snowmen are 'snow' cute and I LOVE the multicoloured sashing squares! :-D

What a Co-incadence!! While cleaning out a cupboard yesterday, I found a box of crayons that my grandsons had left behind. I had done a lot of drawing with crayons and blending them together on material when I was a child. The thought came to me, "Wouldn't it be fun to do again and make blocks for a quilt!" I made one sample drawing last night and it came out fairly well. Am into making mug rugs, bowl holders, and doll quilts to practice corners, FMQ, and piecing. This is a perfect medium to do free-hand drawings of flowers, animals, veggies, etc. Am looking forward to more creative fun making kids' charity quilts and gifts!

these are great! I've never heard of coloring fabric with regular crayola crayons and then ironing to pull the way out - how interesting, thank you for sharing
