Maxine Rosenthal came up with One Block Wonder quilts. There are 3 books, and I used OBW Encore - which includes patterns for the cubes. She gives directions for stacking fabrics in 6 layers and cutting triangles. Instead of sewing the hexagons, you just sew HALVES of hexes and play with them on your design wall. When you're happy with the design, you sew them in rows. When you sew the rows together, the hexagons are comleted.

Clear as mud? That's why you need one of Maxine's books! There's a whole section of the Board devoted to OBWs.

I have one of her books. I was so intrigued by the dimensional patterns. Love your quilt! Very nice work!

That is just awesome. Do you have a close up of the fabric you used. I love how this looks. And DH's legs look good too. Did't want to leave him out. Marilyn

DH is really tickled by all the comments about his legs. It took me so long to set up my camera shot that he finally just sat down - he was holding the bottom of the quilt, because the wind was pretty brisk today.

That is a beautiful OBW Joanne - I absolutely love the colours, your design placement, the cubes and their colours and how you've arranged them. Oh and the back too!
    Stunning!
Great theme for a cabin, they must be thrilled with it.
And a whistle for DH legs too!

If I'd known DH was going to get so much attention, I'd have asked him to polish his shoes ~ ~ ~

Joanne this is beautiful. I love how you got that white streak by placing those lighter hexes. It reminds me of the doggy one I made my friend a while ago - that was all shades of brown but up close it was such fun to spot the noses, tails etc... :-D
