    I have done several embroidery baby quilts and never have used an extra backing. I have noticed that the shrinking on mine was from pulling my thread too tight as I go. I just finished one and tried to not pull as hard but still have a little tightness but I can pull it and stretch it out. BTW your quilts are very beautiful and the work looks great to me. I would be proud to own those.

    Many years ago I did a cross stitched crib cover of the alphabet. When completed I could not give it away. That was 40 years ago. I know how much time and effort went into your piece of art. Beautiful. I hope it becomes an heirloom for the recipient.
