    Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

    For the original placement of the 9 patch I placed the I Spy squares in each corner, pink squares in postion 2 on row 1 and 3, and position 1 and 3 in row 2. A white square for the center (row 2 position 2). When I cut the nine patch I twisted the top left block and the bottom right block so the white squares were on the outside corner. Hope that makes sense.

    Another thing I thought of (in the middle of the night when I do my best thinking)....if you put directional I Spy squares in the corners that you twist, put it in the basic 9 patch upside down so when you twist it, it's right side up. (Don't ask me how I know) :oops:
