Dear Jane, What was I thinking?
#21
I will be trying my talent at a dear Jane in the near future. I bought the book,it arrived a couple weeks ago and have been looking at it ever since. I can't wait to get started. So your telling me I better start while I am young ? Haha it sounds like the dear Jane is humbling. Your squares look from Massachusetts anyway. Like the colors. Are all your colors pre chosen?

Mine is finished except cutting the scallops and binding. I couldn't have done it without the classes I attended. So sorry I didn't have it custom quilted; I got in a hurry and got an all over design. (Hand quilting not an option for me!) So take your time and enjoy the process. You will learn bunches. Also wish I'd bought the software.

hehehehe I am also working on my Dear Jane and have about 10 blocks done for a few years now. A magazine here in South Africa "Stitches"came out the other day with a new angle to the Dear Jane. Named Africa Dear Jane. Its a smaller version with shwe shwe fabrics and calico is used. So now I am sure there are lots of local quilters rearing to try this one. hehehehe So that is why I have pulled out mine again. Its very tricky to say the least but one does get to learn all basic techniques making it. Have a great day!!!

I feel I am actually more accurate hand piecing than machine piecing. I have been taking a hand piecing class for 5 years now and really enjoy it. It IS a lot of work, as you have to mark every seam and pin accurately. If you don't enjoy it, it isn't worth it.
