As a matter o fact, I have started one for my step daughter. I had enough of her dads denim left to do one more. Hers will have all her family names on it and I plan to put them in the shape of a tree. I will post a pic when I finish it. Don't know when as I work on it when I have time.

No Suzi I did not use batting. And I have a grey flannel with pink hearts that say I Love You on the back!

Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. I don't post often because I do not consider myself a quilter of yalls status. I love to do photo quilts and simple very simple, quilts. But, I was proud of this one so I thought I'd share. When I get #2 done, I will share for your expert advice. Thanks for all the comments.

That's way lotta snipping!!! I'm inspired by your great looking quilt. I've a box under my sewing table of cut up jeans waiting -- collected from a nonprofit thrift store I volunteered at over the years...every color of the rainbow. Dreaming big right now. Lord willing these arthritic fingers and my good right arm (Bernina 950, bless her purring little engine) there just may be a new 'rag' at the lake this summer. Oh, here's a great tip: when you cut up jeans snip close to the stitching lines on the legs (don't cut thru the stitches), save the strips - when you get a box full grab some fabric glue and roll them into disks - secure with wide rubber bands and set aside to dry--this may take a week or two-- great coasters! All the best from a fellow 'lurker'.

I agree, gifts from the heart are precious. Don't be afraid to post them. We love looking at what others have made.
