There was no school yesterday, so I had all 4 DGKs. We decided to learn to sew some simple quilt blocks, center of Halloween fabrics with surrounding frame. Really, it was more learning about the machine and how it works. 7yo DGD started and the machine jammed! ugh! I had a time getting the bobbin race fixed. Then they practiced always drawing the threads to the back, lining up the fabric, putting pins in the pincushion when done with them, and putting the presser foot down. The 2yo pushed the off button in the middle of it all. 9yo DGS was next and DGD warned him that it was really hard :) They don't even have an iron at their house, so that was an interesting learning experience. When all was complete, they were very pleased and excited.

Congratulations on your EXTREME patience. I have taught all 6 of my DGKs to sew. The 13 yo has her own machine that I gave her for Christmas when she was 5. She made her first quilt top last week. They love going home and telling their parents what they learned. DGD was explaining to her mother (a non-sewer) what a HST is and how you do it.

They are adorable kids and you are wonderful to teach them. Someday they'll remember how much fun they had with you, learning
