    Default Diamond Ring Anniversary Quilt

One more to check off the 2013 Quilting Goals. I started this quilt last year BEFORE my folks' 60th anniversary, which is Aug. 28th. I was determined to get it to them before their next anniversary which is approaching fast. It will go in the mail tomorrow! I have always wanted to do a DWR. This variation may be as close as I ever get, too many other things on my bucket list! I learned a lot about curved piecing and binding deep scalloped edges. The color choices were my mother's. I never realized that her favorite color was blue! Guess that's where I get it from.

The gold rings in the center contain my parents' names and wedding date and congrats on celebrating 60 years together. The other writing you see is messages from family members. Someone here on the board suggested I quilt hearts in the ring centers. So I designed a flower motif made of hearts to fill the rings and quilted it with invisible nylon thread on the front, white on the back. I am absolutely thrilled with the way it turned out. Sorry none of my photos of the back came out, too much light bouncing off that white-on-white fabric, I guess.

    Thanks for letting me share.

The pattern is called "Diamond Ring" and was originally included in one of those pattern of the month style ring-binders from Oxmoor House Publishing in the early 90's. The collection was called "Best-Loved Quilt Patterns." A lot of the individual patterns are now being sold on etsy and ebay and other sources on-line. I had never seen one like this before.
