Disappearing Disappearing 9-Patch Prototype
#52
9Patches with multiple secondary cuts-- such an easy pattern with surprising results! I did the Disappearing 9patch the usual way, and did it cut on the diagonal (attached pictures), but going on to cut the second time gives a really sweet pattern, especially using the consistent center color, consistent neutrals, and the sashing done this way. It's really cool! I'd like to nominate this quilt for the Quilt of the Week list. :-)

Well I started figuring this out and I have to say if I did this right, Patrice your accuracy is spot on! My accuracy...not so much. If I did it right, I am going to change how I put it together because I did not have success with all the slicing and resewing. Soooooooo, I decided to make the half square triangles first then add them to the 9 patch then cut vertical and horizontal then resew into the final block. This also eliminates the hst black, which I don't like. BTW, I must really like the look of this to go through all these changes. Thanks again, for showing your beautiful quilt.

my accuracy is mostly in the optical illusions by the photo.
if you saw it in person you'd know it's extremely "rustic and whimsical".
i concentrated on matching certain points with the blocks so had to sacrifice it elsewhere.
there is not a square square in the whole darned thing.
just a lot of 4-sided almost-squares. lol
the only way to get everything to line up at every point in every block is to measure obsessively each step of the way.
i will try that someday, but not anytime soon.

LOL Patrice. That is exactly who happened to me when I cut the diagonal cuts. You say that about your squares, but I don't think mine could not be seen from the back of a galloping horse. That's why I had to do something else; and it seems to be working out better for me.
