I think it is to much, it takes away from the beautiful stars and the colors chosen for the stars, my eyes go directly to the border....though the border fabric is pretty in itself.

If you had the time, patience and inclination, lol, I think I would cut that blue border down to about twice as wide as the purplish one. I do love how the blue picks up the blues in the stars, so I wouldn't want to get rid of it completely. Then maybe I'd pick up one of the darker colors in your stars to finish it out.
It's a lovely quilt and your work it amazing.

Not at all. It's a nice compliment to it.

Yes, I think a plain border would be better. Something dark and then a dark binding.

I would have added an additional inch or so of the grayish border. The color of the border is a bit dark for the stars. Have you already quilted it? If you haven't, you might consider changing out the border. If you don't have any more of the sashing color, something that approximates the turquoise used in some of the stars would be lighter and 'lift' the look of the quilt. IMHO.

I started another thread about this because I figure everyone who responded here has moved on and won't be back, but just in case, I will say that my daughter loves the quilt and the borders just exactly as they are. I am very happy about that; I did say when I started this thread that I was done, done, & done, regardless of likes or dislikes, but the sad truth is that I would have changed it for her had she wanted me to. Also, I am liking it much better now than I did 2 days ago, so it's all good.

It does draw the eye away from the blocks which is a shame after all your work on them.

I may have used the same gray that's in the center of your sashing stars for the border to keep those beautiful stars the highlight of the quilt, but it's hard to know for sure without seeing it in person. Sometimes my monitor makes colors look different than they really are. It's a beautiful quilt though, and I'd be thrilled to receive it!
